Scent 5 - Refine & Reinforce
During this fifth workshop, you and your dog have the opportunity to hone your skills. Work searches with multiple finds, blank searches and decide when to declare the search area clear, i.e. you’ve searched everything and you have found all the scented articles. Help support your dog as she hits the scent but has to track it to source much longer than ever before. Experience postal searches and some devious hides amongst tricky set-ups. Trusting your dog, not stepping in too fast but not leaving her to struggle is a real skill that can never be practised enough. This workshop is all about refining your skills and reinforcing what you’ve learned.
If you are planning to move forward to Scent 6 Handler Accreditation, Scent 5 is the perfect preparation. Take home notes will help remind you of what you learned.
This workshop is open to all handlers who have completed S3 and/or the Increasing the Challenge online course
Choose your workshop according to which venue and date suits you best. Most workshops run from 10am-4.30pm.
Workshops are often hosted, which means you book with the host who organises and runs the event, while a Talking Dogs Scentwork® Elite Trainer delivers the workshop on the day. Our Elite Trainers also run their own workshops. Prices vary according to area, so please click on the contact links under your chosen workshop to get full details. Just when you thought your dog couldn’t surprise you any more, along comes Scent 5 and a whole new level of challenge. At workshops, you will learn as much, perhaps more, when watching other teams working and in Scent 5 you really get to see just how far our pet dogs can go. Spoiler – it’s much farther than you think!
Just like everyone who has had their lives and businesses impacted by Covid-19, we have had to adapt in order to keep you and us safe. Many workshops were cancelled but we are beginning to add new workshops as and when it is safe to do so. All workshops will be managed according to the guidelines so that we can stay Covid-19 safe.
