Scent 3 - Skill Builder
Following on from Scent 2, Scent 3 is where you really get to grips with search plans. Becoming systematic in your searches is key to accurate searching where nothing is missed. Learning to search and clear whole areas and even working where there might not be anything to find at first (blank searches) will build search stamina in you and your dog. Add to this a reduction in scent pictures, so smaller scented articles or hiding articles amongst more layers of material, e.g. a box inside a basket, and your scentwork team will really be able to take a deep dive into what you can achieve.
Plus you start to search baggage – bags, suitcases, rucksacks. A chance to work on-lead in deceptively detailed searches that require accuracy, observation and efficiency.
All searches will be appropriate to each individual team and emphasis is placed on teamwork, observation and support. Take home notes will help remind you of what you learned.
This workshop is open to all handlers who have completed S2 and/or the Scentwork Skills online course
Choose your workshop according to which venue and date suits you best. Most workshops run from 10am-4.30pm.
Workshops are often hosted, which means you book with the host who organises and runs the event, while a Talking Dogs Scentwork® Elite Trainer delivers the workshop on the day. Our Elite Trainers also run their own workshops. Prices vary according to area, so please click on the contact links under your chosen workshop to get full details. Stop three on your scentwork journey consolidates your learning, bringing together all the skills from the previous workshops while still stretching and adding to your scent team’s skillset. Believe me, your dog will surprise and delight you with her skills.
Just like everyone who has had their lives and businesses impacted by Covid-19, we have had to adapt in order to keep you and us safe. Many workshops were cancelled but we are beginning to add new workshops as and when it is safe to do so. All workshops will be managed according to the guidelines so that we can stay Covid-19 safe.
