I have developed a series of 6 workshops. Each follows on from the previous one allowing you to practise what you’ve learned and add to your skills.
These workshops take you from complete beginner to Accredited Handler. Having spent more than a decade honing these workshops, I know that this system works. Each dog and handler are treated as individuals. Training adapts to the needs of each search team. And whatever you need to be a successful scent worker, our trainers are there for you every step of the way.
Happily lots of trainers are offering scent classes and workshops using Talking Dogs Scentwork® methods. But you can only attend Scent 1 – 6 workshops with trainers who I personally endorse and who have been trained by and with me. Talking Dogs Scentwork® Official Workshop Series
- Scent 1 - Foundation: This is your introduction to scentwork where you and your dog learn the core skill - how to search for a target scent
- Scent 2 - Handling Skills: This is your follow up to Scent 1 and builds on the skills you and your dog learned at that workshop. Scent 2 concentrates on building your handling skills, skills that are so crucial to the enjoyment and effectiveness of your dog.
- Scent 3 - Skill Builder: Following on from Scent 2, Scent 3 is where you really get to grips with search plans. Plus you Strat to search baggage - bags, rucksacks, suitcases. A chance to work on-lead in deceptively detailed searches that require accuracy, observation and efficiency.
- Scent 4 - Environmentals: This special workshop is all about searching new environments, with an emphasis on outdoor searches.
- Scent 5 - Refine & Reinforce: During this fifth workshop you and your dog have the opportunity to hone your skills. Work searches with multiple finds, blank searches and decide when to declare the search area clear, i.e. you've searched everything and you have found all the scented articles.
- Scent 6 - Accredited Handler: Talking Dogs Scentwork® Handler Accreditation is designed to give handlers a benchmark achievement, a certificate to show just how much you have learned about scentwork.
