Scent 4 - Environmentals
This special workshop is all about searching in new environments, with an emphasis on outdoor searches. We have held Scent 4 workshops in a huge variety of venues including football grounds, a racecourse, transport and agricultural museums. We have searched planes, trains, tractors and buses, brickworks and wildlife havens. So check with your local trainer to see what exciting venue they have lined up for you.
Working in pairs or small groups, this workshop gives you the opportunity to conduct real world safety checks. And to hide scented articles for each other. This is a crucial skill that requires you to learn about your dog and others’ dogs in order to set appropriate searches so that every team can reach their goals.
This is a busy workshop with lots of searches. But never worry, all searches will be designed for each individual dog. Named after the environmental searches I did during my time as a professional drug detector dog handler, Scent 4 is likely to be the closest you and your dog will get to the actual experience of operational detector dog work.
Only 6 dog/handler teams will be accepted on to each Scent 4 workshop, so book early to avoid disappointment. Take home notes will help remind you of what you learned.
This workshop is open to all handlers who have completed S3 and/or the Increasing the Challenge online course
Choose your workshop according to which venue and date suits you best. Most workshops run from 10am-4.30pm.
Workshops are often hosted, which means you book with the host who organises and runs the event, while a Talking Dogs Scentwork® Elite Trainer delivers the workshop on the day. This is such a special workshop, always unique and always challenging. Time and again I’ve seen teams who were tentative at the start of the day, leave at the end feeling confident and accomplished. This is more than a workshop, it’s a day to remember!

Covid-19
Just like everyone who has had their lives and businesses impacted by Covid-19, we have had to adapt in order to keep you and us safe. Many workshops were cancelled. While we were beginning to add new workshops and even managed to run some, current rules mean that it’s unlikely to have any in-person workshops until 2021. Be assured, we will reschedule as soon as it is safe to do so. All workshops will be managed according to the guidelines so that we can stay Covid-19 safe.
